Come See Glimpses of Christmas Past During an After Dark Holiday Lantern Tour

Visitors will enjoy living history vignettes in England, Ireland, Germany, and America

From subdued Christmas celebrations amid the English Civil War to Mummers in Ireland to the wide-eyed observances of a German child, the Old World plays provide history, tradition, and a bit of the unexpected. Superstitions persist and evolve in the New World, where holiday observances in all three plays are disrupted by a terrible snow storm. A family anxiously awaits the return of a beloved family member, children find themselves stranded at the schoolhouse by a blizzard, and a delayed celebration goes awry in a series of bizarre events. In the end, the spirit of the holidays triumphs. Look for connections among the sites. Each Old World play will connect to a story in the New World. Come enjoy a festive evening of holiday cheer.

Join us for an evening walking tour around the Museum by lantern light.  A horse-drawn wagon ride will take you from the Old World to the New World and back.
