Below are some of the scheduled activities for this week at the Frontier Culture Museum.

Activities and locations are subject to change depending on weather and other unforeseen events, so please call the Museum’s Welcome Center in advance (540-332-7850), or check our Facebook page each morning to confirm specific activities or programs.


Tuesday 3/06

  • 10:00 am – 4:00 pm  Blacksmithing (Irish Forge)

Wednesday 3/07

  • 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Flax Spinning & Wool Processing (Education Room)

Thursday 3/08

  • 10:00 am – 4:00 pm  Historical Spring Cleaning & Farm Maintenance


Friday 3/09

  • 10:00 am – 4:00 pm  Come enjoy a day filled with activities that include working textiles, music, games, woodworking and gardening.

Saturday 3/10

  • 10:00 & 11:00 Toddler Program:  Making Quark Cheese on the German Farm). Cheese is one product that can be made from milk. Dairying in Germany was an important part of daily life. Quark is a soft cheese that can be made easily. Our staff will help you make quark cheese on our German Farm.  *This will take place on the German farm regardless of weather. Registration required – call 540-332-7850.
  • 10:00 am – 4:00 pm  Soft Cheese Making  (German Farm)
  • 10:00 am  – 3:00 pm  What’s left in the pantry? What to eat at the end of winter (1850’s American Farm)
  • Beginning today!  In honor of National Girl Scout Day (March 12), we are offering FREE admission from March 10-16 to all Girls Scouts wearing their uniforms!

Sunday 3/11

  • 10:00 – 4:00 Gardening (All Farms)
  • 10:00 – 4:00 Women in Trades – Blacksmithing (Irish Forge)
