APR 1: Easter Traditions

Join us for a fun and educational weekend at the Frontier Culture Museum. Visitors will learn about Easter traditions from England, Germany, and early America. Some of the activities include decorating traditional Easter Eggs, egg hunts, Easter cooking, and games. Watch the burning of the fire wheel in the afternoon on Saturday!  *All activities are included with admission but supplies are limited.

Admission for Easter Weekend is Pay-What-You-Will  (donations gladly accepted)

  • West African Farm:

  • English Farm:
    • Egg dying with blueberries: All Day
    • Hunting the Easter Hare (An English Easter tradition): All Day
  • Irish Forge:
    • Blacksmith making items out of iron: All Day
  • Irish Farm:
    • Spinning Wool & Flax
    • Egg Rolling: 9:00-1:00
  • Field between Ireland & Germany
    • Egg Hunt:  2:30 
  • German Farm
    • Egg dying with red cabbage:
    • Osterrad (Fire-wheel): 2:00
    • Eyersammler (A German Easter game)
    • Eierlesen (A German Easter game)

    • Gardening: Plant a seed in a cup – one individual section per child 1:00-4:00
    • Egg Dying with Onion Skins: Scratch carving previously dyed eggs

    • Easter Meal Ham Preparation (outdoors in the fire pit)
    • Colonial Games – Egg Walk, Three-legged Race
    • Egg picking (A Pennsylvania Dutch Easter game)
