JUL 29: Igbo Cultural Weekend
11:00 am - 12:30 pm: Join the Igbo Nation as we come together at the Frontier Culture Museum in a unique church service that flows across all denominations. Reverend Dr. Maduawuchi S. Ogbonna, CSSP will deliver the authentic church service accompanied by authentic West African Music.
Everyone is welcome, but we need to prepare, so please contact our office to provide an estimate of your group's size to ensure we have adequate parking and seating on hand. For reservations please contact Erin O’Connell at 540 332-7850.
12:30 pm - 5:00 pm: After the service, enjoy the food vendors from many of the attending churches, and visit the West African Farm along with the other Old World and New World exhibits throughout the Museum.
The West African Farm at the Museum tells the story of the Igbo people who were brought to the frontier of Virginia as enslaved workers, domestic servants, and skilled artisans. Learn how the Igbo influenced American food, music, folklore, and religious worship.
